Under the vision of Saudi Arabia's Vision 2030, the Kingdom is rapidly transforming from an oil-dependent economy into a global industrial powerhouse. This macro-economic shift has sparked an unprecedented demand for localized steel processing, fabrication infrastructure, and manufacturing consumables. Heavy fabrication projects—ranging from the structural grids of the NEOM megacity to the subsea piping grids of Saudi Aramco—require massive volumes of premium-grade welding consumables, particularly Flux Cored Welding Wires (FCW).
Historically, Middle Eastern manufacturing plants relied heavily on imported welding wires. However, supply chain disruptions and localized content regulations (such as IKTVA - In-Kingdom Total Value Add program) have pushed domestic manufacturers to build local wire drawing and electrode manufacturing lines. Developing a competitive, local flux cored wire facility requires more than standard production equipment; it demands highly specialized, resilient Auxiliary Machinery designed to perform consistently under the harsh climate conditions of the Arabian Peninsula.
Within a modern wire drawing or flux cored welding wire line, auxiliary machines are the unsung heroes of process stability and quality assurance. Without continuous slitting lines, automated strip cleaning systems, raw material mixers, and precise butt welders, high-speed lines face constant breakdowns. For instance, in Saudi Arabia’s industrial zones (such as MODON industrial cities in Dammam, Riyadh, and Jeddah), ambient temperatures can reach up to 50°C, and relative humidity in coastal industrial sites is extremely high. This environment accelerates oxidation on raw steel strips. Consequently, integrating an advanced inline ultrasonic cleaning system is vital to remove rust-preventative oils, dust, and rust before the strip enters the forming phase.
Globally, the transition towards high-efficiency automated welding processes (like MIG/MAG and submerged arc welding) has driven the consumption of flux cored wires. Globally, manufacturers are moving towards digitalized, automated production lines. Modern factories seek high-accuracy systems where steel strips can be slitted, cleaned, formed, filled with flux powder, drawn, and layer-wound with minimal human intervention. Keeping pace with these global trends allows Saudi manufacturers to export premium products to the wider GCC and European markets, making compliance with global quality certifications (such as CE, SASO, and ISO) a vital requirement.

Producing flux cored welding wire or high-performance solid wire requires a synchronized production workflow. Beijing Orient Pengsheng provides the entire spectrum of processing units, ensuring that raw steel strips are converted smoothly into premium-grade, package-ready wires. Below is the typical technical roadmap utilized by major industrial clients in the Dammam and Jubail zones:
The manufacturing process begins with low carbon steel strips. Large master coils are slit using the Low Carbon Steel Strip Slitting Line. This system divides wide master coils into multiple narrow strips of precise dimensions. High accuracy during slitting prevents edge burrs and deviations in strip thickness, ensuring consistent quality in down-line forming steps.
To produce high-quality flux cored welding wire, the slitted steel strip must be clean. The inline Steel Strip Ultrasonic Type Cleaning Machine removes oils, rust-preventatives, and ambient particulate matter. The system uses high-frequency ultrasonic transducers in a multi-stage cleaning and drying bath, ensuring the strip surface is fully prepared for forming.
Simultaneously, the flux powder chemical formula is mixed. The Flux Powder Mixing Machine combines mineral and metal powders to ensure complete homogeneity. This consistency is vital, as any variations in powder composition can lead to arc instability or weld defects during field application.
The cleaned steel strip and the blended flux powder are fed into the Steel Strip Forming Machine. The strip is progressively formed into a U-shape, filled with a metered flow of flux powder, and then closed using either a butt-seam or overlap-seam configuration. This step locks the powder cores securely inside the steel sheath.
The filled wire is drawn through a series of reduction dies in the Welding Wire Straight Type Drawing Machine. The wire diameter is gradually reduced to target size (typically 1.2mm or 1.6mm) while mechanical stress is managed to prevent wire breakage. Real-time drawing die cassettes regulate elongation, maintaining high tensile strength and concentricity.
The drawn wire is either rewound onto spools using the High Precision Layer Rewinding Machine or coiled directly into industrial containers using the Flux Cored Welding Wire Drum Packaging Machine. Precise layer winding avoids wire tangling during automated welding operations at end-user plants.
Importing and installing industrial equipment in Saudi Arabia requires adherence to strict local regulations. All machinery imported into the Kingdom must pass the SABER system platform under technical regulations defined by the Saudi Standards, Metrology and Quality Organization (SASO). Our equipment is certified and built to meet SASO requirements, incorporating CE-compliant electrical cabinets, thermal shielding, and overload protection.
